There's a kind of work that doesn't show up in any photo album.

It's the laundry that gets folded after everyone else has gone to bed. It's the Monday-morning shirts you ironed at midnight. It's the grass-stained pants you spot-treated three times. It's the wedding dress you packed away in the attic in 1992 because someday — somehow — your daughter might want to see it.

This Mother's Day, the team at Premier Cleaners & Tailors wants to say something to the moms of Westford, Littleton, Boxborough, and Acton that often goes unsaid: we see you.

We see the loads that ran while everyone was at soccer practice. The hours that vanish from a Saturday because someone has to do them, and somehow that someone has always been mom.

Premier Cleaners & Tailors exists because thirty-plus years ago, one of those mothers sat down at a sewing machine and decided this was something she could do well, for other people who needed it. Most family-run small businesses in Massachusetts have a story like this. Behind nearly every one of them is a mother (and a grandmother, and a great-grandmother) who never got a Sunday brunch in her honor.

So this Mother's Day, two thoughts.

If you're a mom reading this — give yourself a morning back. Skip the laundry one weekend. Drop a bag at the door, and our Wash, Dry & Fold team will return it folded a few days later. Pickup and delivery are always free. Spend that morning doing nothing, or everything, or the thing you've been telling yourself you'll do "when you have time."

If you want to honor a mom this year — ask us about gift certificates for Wash, Dry & Fold service, alterations, or wedding dress cleaning and preservation. None of these gifts will photograph well on Instagram. All of them will mean something next Tuesday night, when she would have been doing the laundry and instead she's reading a book.

And if your mother kept her wedding dress for you — call us. We can clean and preserve yours so that someday, decades from now, your own daughter will open a box and find something beautiful that her mother kept for her.
